[title] => Teach My Heart to Drown
[time] => 2005-03-21 23:04:18
[hometext] => My latest offering...
[bodytext] => I hear this lonely night’s call, As it cries out for me. And out from sadness my heart falls, For she beckons me to the sea. To the sea let my heart go, Running across blackened sand. Watching the waters ebb and flow, As though guided by God’s own hand. Teach me how to drown please, So that my love will return. To join my heart with the sea’s, And let imperfect flesh burn. Though never was I a seaman, In the sea, my heart does lay; And the angels and the demons, Upon my weakened condition prey. So here I stand upon this beach, And in this wind, I hear her voice, As though she were in my reach, Asking my heart to make a choice. But what is a man without his heart? Perhaps a ghost? Merely an empty shell? But perhaps such was fate from the start, To dwell in neither Heaven nor Hell. Such an existence could I live? This land is no longer my home, And my longing bleeds like a sieve. Through the sea my soul does now roam. Here in my hand, this lonely photograph, My fear falls out like rain, As the thunderous sea reads my own epitaph, It’s great volume drowning out my pain. I lay her picture upon the sand, And it washes away on the waves. Slowly, I reach out my hand, As though reaching for what my heart craves. And suddenly, from the depths of the sea, Arose a bright and stunning light, Then she began to step out towards me, And my heart felt peace at the sight. Her bare feet upon the surface of the waves, As the clouds grow dark in the sky, Raining forth angel’s tears to their watery graves, And I feel myself begin to cry. I try to breathe, but the memories overtake me, As across the raging waves I walk, To bring my love to my arms and hear this plea, To recover from such a shock. The storm rages around our souls, Yet I am caught deep in her trance, And as the sea boils and rolls, Our aching bodies begin to dance. We flow across the water’s surface, As the sea rages and rolls, And I realize that this is my purpose, For me to reunite our souls. These five years have slowly gone, Since your ship was lost at sea, So now before another lonesome dawn, I will find where my soul shall be. With fiery passion, please kiss me, my love, And slowly our bodies begin to descend, Into the watery darkness as fallen doves, And as broken lovers, let us mend. And as the sun breaks upon the crimson skies, It finds the beach deserted and lonely, For in the seas rest my fleshly demise, As in the sea, I join my heart’s one and only. -Joey- [comments] => 2 [counter] => 189 [topic] => 48 [informant] => BlackRoses00 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )
