of morning Sun
as she sits in silence
meditating on the past faces
she has come to know,
Friends
Family
all loved ones
and who love her back.
Mother in more ways than
bringing her children
into this world
but
a Mother
as well
to the nurturing Earth
that rests at her tender feet.
Praying upon prayer
spritis newly found in an
other world
look to her for direction
as they walk the loving steps
to a new way of life
greeting them with a brilliant light.
God graced this Heavenly being
with song and dance
talents passed on in a bloodline
to the newest member of our clan
sweet with brown eyes and flowing hair.
A man placed his heart in hers
hollow glass to be filled
with the flowing watres of emotion
both bitter and sweet,
but within the reality of life
he returned from where he came
and holds tight the ties
that continue to bind us
from the here after.
In Us,
a Sister who will carry
the nurturing nature of
the women before
Strong and Intelligent.
A brother to continue
the bloodline of the
Minjarez name
and Me,
the youngest
to remember these days and nights
with paper and pen. [comments] => 2 [counter] => 195 [topic] => 23 [informant] => Nardo [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => FamilyPoems )

Very good write, full of meaning. Better if you could have expressed it in rhime, but good anyway.

Wow, this is great. And I don't agree with Lionel. I hate rhyming, or at least I don't think it is necessary, and this, my friend, is best left as it is. I thought that once you got into you flow, this poem was spectacular. It is a great tribute to you family, and it makes me want to write a poem about mine.

and Me,
the youngest
to remember these days and nights
with paper and pen.

This is my favorite part. It's a great ending. It completes the poem with a feeling of closure, and it also expresses the heart of yourself at the core. I felt that.

Be True,
zenmind
