i ponder why the darkness hurts so
and the blinding flash of reality
as it moves in around me burns me raw
i twist and i squirm and i struggle against it
wanting one last day in blissful peace
but peace is not where you are
you are standing, watching me
in that bottomless cavern of fear
and i watch you watching me
wondering which way to turn
do i allow myself tobe swallowed by you?
or do i turn from the certainty of painful memories
time crawls around us
as the whirlwind slows
the moment has come at last
my decision must be made
and still i wait, not knowing
not moving, not understanding
the path before me is unclear
and i wait still, for something
as i watch you watch me [comments] => 2 [counter] => 182 [topic] => 48 [informant] => Nienna [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 7 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )

wow.. this is a great poem nienna, i like it very much.. it captures perfectly that moment or desicion (or rather indesicion) and conveys the monumental fear of having to 'step off the edge.' your poem builds, emulating up this descision, then leaves the reader hanging, bringing the reader right back to the title, which of course is 'paralyzed'. simply brilliant! hehe.. i dunno if you wrote this reflection on a situation in your real life or not, but either way.. take heart... God is faithful. if its him you are seeking, and you are honest with yourself.. you will know that he is the way, the truth, and the life. Jesus proved that. anyway, cheers, sweet poem.
