[bodytext] => He stood before the tomb of Lazarus, His friend, - in mortuary linens wrapped, He quaked and groaned and quivered for He was Profoundly moved at His friends passing - and He wept. He felt the separation’s cutting pain, Shared mourners desolate experience, When comfort words sound hollow, void and vain, And hearts' recesses gasp in turbulence. But ere He brought the dead friend into light, He wished to feel, like any child of Eve, Affliction,- devastation's woeful blight, and like His creatures feel the pangs of grief. The essence of the Holy Writ is this : Write this onto your heart - words are inept, Death Slayer felt Himself the trenchancy And sharpness of grim reaper’s scythe-- and wept. God weeps - He weeps and mourns a cherished friend,- Death slayer weeps- weeps tears before He stepped Before the sepulcher of Lazarus to extend His hand to resurrect,- God mourned and wept. © Elizabeth Dandy.
