I prayed that night under moonbeam
As stars played their haunting tune
Trees brightly lit with shades of moon
Night world born for me to hear
While I sat and shed a tear

"When will all this end?" I asked my friend
God to all, my saving grace, my hole in the wall
The window through which I finally saw
A tunnel leading through to a door

He gave me courage to move slowly forward
Strength to carry me toward
The goal I felt inside of me
Of a life beyond to set me free
My trust in Him complete and whole
My faith eternal warms the soul

My search increased night after night
Outside that house in pale moon light
Through the chill of winter I contemplated
Striving until my torment abated
Time for thought and time to grieve
The answers came clear - I had to leave

One last chance I bestowed
But it was only anger that flowed
The help I offered rejected in force
Made the task of leaving only worse
To love someone they must be free
For this is the way it is meant to be

The road that I'd travelled changed direction
And I began again in search of perfection
Somewhere out there in this crazy place
Someone shares my belief for peace
Harmony takes center stage once more
Love once again will come to the fore

My dream that night so long ago
Came true in a sense - that much I know
The pain and sorrow will gradually wear
More hurt will surface and many a tear
A new dream now - though not complete
Of a brand new life - there is no repeat

So much I learned from my talks with Above
Of hearts that beat and the giving of love
The gifts God gave us - each and all
Cherished by some while others stall
Our destiny chosen - our lessons not few
Follow His word and to yourself be true.
