Array ( [sid] => 87405 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Higher Than Any Wave [time] => 2005-03-14 08:55:07 [hometext] => This poem is dedicated to all the tsunami victims of Asia. For all the lives taken, may they find eternal rest and peace; for all the lives that started anew, may they find illumination and hope. [bodytext] =>

For one moment the sky was clear
No clue nor hint of death so near
For a mere instant life was free
‘Till life was swallowed by the sea
The sea engulfed all known laughter
Thrashing and screaming followed after
The waves shook hands with the sky
Leaving no time to bid goodbye
To loved ones who were chosen
To spend their lives in heaven
The aftermath boomed with silence
As all known life hid from existence
From stillness, a thousand cries came
Crawling out of fate’s twisted game
Disheveled, smiles in disarray
To live and die another day
Crying not for justice, but for hope
To lengthen the end of life’s rope

The human spirit we must save
To soar higher than any wave
