i look out into the deep dark night
and what i see beneath the security light,
is our palamino horse sunshine
looking wet but having a fun time,
too stubborn to go into the barn
but that is part of her beautiful charm,

tonight the mountain brings the rains
pitch black no starshine upon her mane,
she is a free spirit; both heart and soul
living near her makes me balanced and whole,
for horses are magnificent that is quite clear
and that special lady to us is so dear,

shes had foals under our windows; such a
beautiful sight as she nickers and blows,
when they took those first wobblie steps
then one day galloped with tremendous pep,
but tonight she stands alone in thought
maybe about all her life has brought her,

only a few steps to a warm barn filled with hay
where the wet stormy night; could give in to day,
but sunshine loves weather, the worse the better
we have a lot in common and remain unfettered,
there is a moon up there way high in the sky
alas, cannot see it, for its above clouds so high,

upon this earthy forest floor; trees drip crystal dew
the air is fresh and sweet; makes you feel new,
sometimes i think my life is trees, walnut, oak, elms
far above the cities; in this woodsy wilderness realm,
i know this moment won't last forever, it too must end
as i look deep into the pastures

and see my sweet friend.

LadyFawn what a beautiful poem I felt as if I was there and could feel the rain, Palamino is indeed a kindred spirit. I too loved to be out in all weathers now I just sit by a warm fire and wait for the spring. 5/5 from bern Hugs and love.

As a resident of the piney woods of east Texas I much enjoyed this beautiful tribute to your animal friend. There is no doubt as to your attachment. On a parallel level, there is also no question as to your immense creative talent. Thanks for reading one of mine . . . otherwise, it may have taken a long time to work my way through the list of members until I found your wonderful site on my own. I will return for more of your gentle, and lovely words. Kudos!

John

Oh Nessa! Better late than never.
The fact is, I will eventually work myself around on the sites, - I was away for a long time.

Your words have such incomparable beauty, and reflect the depth and greatness of your soul. The other commenters have already said how deeply touched they are,
Be blessed abundantly
Love and peace
Elizabeth

Nessa this is such a lovely write, the joy you take in animals and nature is clearly evident in every line. Palamino has always seemed to me to be a very evocative word, and it made a wonderful title for your poem.

Take care,
Dom
