Array ( [sid] => 86718 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Dedicated to the Firefly [time] => 2005-03-07 11:24:14 [hometext] => this to some is a poem, i think its more like a story, and yes...the little boy is me about 12 years ago [bodytext] => A young boy,
Happy to no ends,
With a free spirit,
Runs outside in the night sky.
Jar in hand,
Hoping to catch one of the magical creatures the light the field.

He raises his hand,
And swiftly draws it down.
He opens his fist,
Only to reaveal the Firefly.
He puts it in his jar.

Now in his room with the Firefly,
He begins placing grass and a small stick in the jar,
To create a comfortable sleeping space for his new guest.
Poking little air holes in the jar so the Firefly can breathe.

He stares at the creature for an hour in amazement,
Then its time for bed.
He so innocently places the jar on top of the air conditioner vent,
Not wishing for his new pal to get hot in the summer heat.

Awaking in the morning,
The first thing he does is go for the jar.
He cries at the sight he sees.
It seems the cold air got to the Firefly during the night.

A saddened little,
With the best intentions,
Sets up a small funeral for this small insect.
Then the boy prays.
He prays that the Firefly makes it to Heaven,
And that when the boy dies he can finally meet up with the Firefly,
And apologize to it.

If we can all revert back to such innocence, this world will be a better place to live.
We are the way we are, beacause we are tainted by hate. This little boy knew nothing but to love. He can love the smallest things in life, imagine what would happen if we could.

great write. We all are tainted by hate, among other things. Cute story.
