Tis not thyself that not attempt to shine?
Truth be that tis not oneself that enables thine own light,
But other's love that makes thou soul so bright.

I question thee, tis possible a light be noticed underground?
Shall mere lamp's light shine brighter than thou sun's great rays?
Will thee wait till thou light be partly found;
Or shall thou let me show thee thine ways?

Tis not thine laughter and content that maketh shine?
Perhaps thine love marks thou hidden soul,
Between heart's aversion and love's thin line.
Tis not mine love that cause sweet light to flow?

A ha! tis love that makes thee shine!
Yes, sweet love that makes thee shine.

Good point. I find it interesting that you used more formal English here. I like the eleventh line the best. Very good work! :-)

I love this poem! I love it when people write poems with English like this too. Every line is a masterpiece to me. The metaphor and everything stated is right and true. Great write...
