Array ( [sid] => 86136 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Promises Fulfilled [time] => 2005-03-01 18:39:43 [hometext] => * This starts off dark and lonely, but ends with a beautiful nugget of hope. My hope is that this poem will speak to you because even during your lowest moments there is still hope and you can be set free from your depression if you turn to Jesus. * [bodytext] => I thrash upon this bed of broken dreams
Left to sleep with the damned (at home)
Staring at this rusted razor
Rusted with insecurity and self-hate
My mottled gaze distorted
Like the fear that carves me into bloody strips
My teeth have been bashed in my rocks
Left only to grin out of broken, bleeding gums
Only pain can dampen these feelings
And I pray to no longer feel
My eyes are bloodshot
From having wept themselves dry
My fingers scraped raw
From having scratched at these walls
My mind no longer capable of coherent thought
Only to devise mad, ill-conceived plans
Which leads to bleeding wrists and hiding
Broken dreams bleed from cracked skin,
But I hardly notice, consumed with holding
My last vestiges of sanity together
As the blackest of nightmares grips me,
But at my lowest You rescued me from despair
You restored my dreams
And You fulfilled Your promises
You healed my wounds
And showed me Your scars
And told me You already paid the price
You took away my pain and fear
And replaced it with love and joy
You tore down my walls
And welcomed me home

Joel, this was just outstanding one of the best
poems i have read from you. This was incredible
in every way possible. You have such a wonderful way of writing that you leave me speachless with this.
This was sad yet the faith it had in the end was just beautiful.
Hope to see more of it soon.

Hugs,
