Outlaw Blues - Track 3: Magik in the Music

Contributed by Nazmythian on Monday, 28th February 2005 @ 08:41:31 PM in AEST
Topic: group

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Slide studied Santeria
And other magics too
Infusing them into his music
How, no one ever knew
With mesmerizing melodies
And breath taking backbeats
It’s said he killed a man one time
And never left his seat
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Slide Cotrelle's
Magik in the Music
_____________________________

Well it starts out like a whisper
And it makes you strain to hear
But you can feel it comin
Like there's sumthin drawin near
And your skin jus starts a crawlin
Your legs begin to bounce
You know you can't resist it
Even 'fore it is announced

( because )
There's Magik in the Music
No matter what they say
It can lead you off to heaven
Take you back to yesterday
And you know you can't control it
No matter what you do
'Cuz there's Magik in the Music
An' I put a - spell on you

At first you hardly feel it
And deny there's sumthin' there
But I'll wrap you in the moment
And draw you from your chair
I'll pull you to the dance floor
And I'll sweep you off your feet
Soon before you know it
I'll have you dancin in the street

( now )
There's Magik in the Music
No matter what you think
It can lead you to the Devil
It can drive a man to drink
And you know you can't control it
No matter what you do
'Cuz there's Magik in the Music
An' I put a - spell on you

( you can )
Call it the blues, mixed with
A little touch of soul
Or you can call it hillbilly
Even southern rock and roll
And some they swear its VooDoo
Cuz' they just don't wanna dance
It don't matter what you call it
You'll get caught up in the trance

( now )
There's Magik in the Music
And now you know its true
It can take away your heartache
Do what ever I want it to
And you know you can't control it
No matter what you do
'Cuz there's Magik in the Music
An' I put a - spell on you

'Cuz there's Magik in the Music
An' I put a ~
Spell on you
_____________________________
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Late one night as Slide was playing
Deeply in tune with his song
A man upon the dance floor
Amused himself and sang along
His words were out of sequence
His notes, they didn't fit
Slide only wished for him to stop
And his heart suddenly quit
When instantly that man fell dead
The audience filled with rage
Slide quietly packed up his guitar
And quickly left the the stage
Woah. That end is fantastic.
To be honest, (the whole thing is stunning) but the ending was the part that hit me hardest.
Your words never cease to amaze me. I don't think they ever will.
Great write hunni.
*hugs* Phil xxx
Naz
I loved your song and the lyrics. It was reminding me of the days when I was practicing hypnotherapy(hypnosis) with clients; and I realized the song had that trance like affect upon those listening to the music. Like they couldn't help but get caught up in the beat and rhythum.
Great song composition
Holy crap!!!! I LOVE this!!!!! Flawless... fabulous... you absolutely nailed this!
"And never left his seat". Loved that... loved the whole idea of this. "Potent" comes to mind.
This comes with picture and sound. His voice is raspy but clear - mesmerizing... his guitar wails (he's probably named her).... his hands - are rough and tender at the same time.... he's thin, but with such presence that no one would ever call him slight...
(as I see/hear it anyway...)
Very seriously wishin' I was there,
~Snemmy~
This is definately my favorite so far, gives me chills. How you come up with it, don't know, but it ocks. You guys are so talented.
"Slide studied Santeria
And other magics too
Infusing them into his music
How, no one ever knew
With mesmerizing melodies
And breath taking backbeats
It’s said he killed a man one time
And never left his seat "
That stanza is absolutely amazing, it hooked me then and there and the song just reinforced my love for this collaboration. I think I am going to have to read all of them today... forget laundry. Loves it guys! Very hot! *goes to read i again*
