Fairy tale marriages....

Contributed by mina-1 on Sunday, 27th February 2005 @ 04:30:54 PM in AEST
Topic: HumorPoetry

I waited for my knight in shining armour
To come and whisk me away
On a beautiful white stallion
Into the sunset make our way
I always pictured marriage
As one glamourus ball
Thinking I knew what to expect
Blindly I was about to fall
A princess on a pedestal
No longer sitting high
Washing, cooking, scrubing dishes
An effort just to sigh
Balancing a cheque book
In one hand and
A cook book in the other
This fairy tale marriage I imagined
Was thrown into clutters
The honey moon period
Sailed away so fast
Pretty nails and fancy hair
In no time didn't last
Where are the happy ever afters
That fairy tales talk about?
I guess it was nice to day dream
Now in my face reality shouts
There's a closing end to my tale
For now I shall tell you all
Never believe in fairy tales
Or else you too shall blindly fall

Oh, AMEN to this! It took me a long time to realize there are no white knights and no happily ever afters, but that doesn't mean a happy marriage isn't possible. It's just that it isn't about fairy tales, it's about dedication and committment to making something work. I really liked this one.
