I've time for a bit of thinking these days, and more of it is finding expression in verse than usual with me. Which I certainly won't be complaining about. [bodytext] => A setting sun hails another day
Passed beyond me on western wings
Leaving only thoughts and memories
Of indifferent use to the mind.

But now I walk in times of quiet
And many more things reveal themselves
As the heart turns to reflection
Than I heard pursuing other paths.

I have come to value the silence
For it makes memories into wisdom
And makes us at home with ourselves -
And we know so little of our own hearts.

Some say that truly living is flying
On wings of romance or adventurous seas
I wonder, do they know life in their hearts
Or only a feeling like it?

Is life a charm that eludes us
To be caught by those who may?
Can it be found and savored
Only to be lost again when the wind blows?

I for one purpose to listen
For more is to be found in understanding
Than in following after fleeting joys
While destiny goes unfulfilled.

A setting sun hails another day
Passed beyond me on western wings
Leaving only everything of value
That a discerning heart might hold.

Lately it is hard to impress me with the love of my life - words - LOL.
You have managed to do just that.
This is thought provoking, sentimental but strong, an all around awesome piece of work!
I long to read more of your work!
Thanks for sharing!

This is major, Andrew. I mean, it's got to be the most moving thing of yours I have ever read. You continually amaze me with the wisdom you have in one so young.

I have come to value the silence
For it makes memories into wisdom

These lines stopped me in my tracks, but the ones about understanding the difference between romance and adventure and what is really life and waiting on God to reveal it were awesome as well.

I tripped only once on the "than" at the end of the second stanza. Not sure how you might change it, but it didn't flow just right for me.

I really liked this.

I don't even know where to begin with praise for this brilliance. This is magnificent. I adore it!
I can relate it to myself, it inspires me to think along the same lines, I can picture you and your mountains and green canopy walking along in the sunset...

~sigh~
You've done it again, my brilliant pal.

Lots of love and peace be with you,

Your fan,

Chelsea

I personally feel this is one of the best poems among all of yours.
The wisdom in these words shines through brilliantly. What you've grasped and captured in these lines is something of great value, and something hard to capture.

Very inspiring and outstanding.

You know.. I could see you in this, it was odd. In my minds eye I saw you, upon a hilltop, just staring.

This is very peaceful... Almost calming, to me at least.

Thankyou for sharing this, Andrew, it is one of your best, I think.

The human heart tugs, pulls, and leads it’s owner to magical places where the mind, surveys, arranges, and charts paths for the being within to follow. The soul rejoices at each proper path pursued. All in all, life is every bit as beautiful as your poem. It always reflects the magnificence of spirit in those, who in silence, ponder the path before them before stepping into the unknown. You are quite a talented young man.

John

From one who has just fallen from the fleeting wings of love, this poem seems encouraging and wickedly true. Actually, I guess I knew that all along, and I've always taken pleasure in silence also. Hard to find it sometimes in this atmosphere, but I guess now you can understand. Encouraging for me to read your musical words, Andrew. I'm so glad that you are writing.

Although strange I keep choosing the poems I have read already of yours and just as I am about to leave a comment I see my previous comment.

The words and meaning are beautiful.

I wonder if life is known in our hearts as well. Do we live thru dreams or do we live.

Pondering away, as usual.

Great poem.

Kie

wow.. this is easily one of your best andrew, and definately my favorite that ive read. its amazing how sometimes something in someone elses life corresponds directly to something in our own.. its confermation. God works mysteriously that way. anyway, beyond this poem being just the thing ive needed to read, message wise, its a wonderful, heartfelt and skillfully written peice. very high quality, well polished, as usual from you. and it is something of importance that you speak of, to everyone.. both those caught up in their business (or busy-ness), needing to pause and reflect.. but also those who have done that already. there is no limit to the mysteries God can whisper to those willing to wait on Him. Hes so infinate.. both important, and a pleasure to fellowship with. anyway, thank you for sharing this one. i think i might print a copy, if you dont mind...

peace,
joshua

This is good. I always leave very inspired after reading on of your poems. You have all the elements: life and the state of the heart, choice hidden in reflection and joy found in simplicity. This is a very worthy write for being in a book but much more for the heart that can be immitated.
