As I grow during my lifetime
I sit and think out loud
Where is my beautiful flowing love
that claims to be so proud
Where is the love I dreamed of
in childhood fairylands
Has it approached me, and unknowingly
I let it slip through my hands
I sit on my bed and cry in my pillow
till the light of dawn appears
Where is my love that I can't reach,
but which I feel is oh, so near
I search and search and wonder
for a love that is so true
And yet I've never stopped to think
that my love just might be you.

I would be interested to know what you think of this poem, and how your perceptions of love have changed since (gasp) 1981?

You are not dating yourself dear ... you are simply illustrating that you have been writing beautiful words for some time. It is amazing how we fail at times to see what is right before our eyes. Fabulous Carol ... even now.

Interesting. I tend to feel more and more that the love we dreamed of was just that...a dream.
What is real is the love we have for those around us. Sometimes it doesn't feel like love, but if we are dedicated to those people, that is what it surely is.
