It wasn't too long ago, when you held the key,
Unlocking ancient doors filled with long lost memories,
Of years passed, and fires left to die...
Yet, through all the dusty piles of pain and sorrow,
You still saw the good in me,
You still saw a radiant queen...

My heart had never felt such love, such passion,
That only weeping could quench its thirst...
And there I was, crying a thousand seas,
Of endless jubilant tears...

The phase had ended, you found another,
More beautiful, more luminous than I...
I was left in total darkness,
You, my light, had extinguished and now glowed for another...
Blind, vulnerable, desperate,
I became a laughing corpse,
Nothing more than an illusion with a mask of deception...
And yet, you still have the key to my heart,
Dangling around your neck as if nothing...

You may not remember me,
But I remember you...

Oh Stephy, this is so sad...
And so many of us can relate, I'm sure.
The ending of this is just stunning, and finished it off just right.

Great write hun,
*hugs* Phil xxx

damn

I understand the feelings of rejection and of loss. This is a great tribute to this, although it is sad, I think we have all felt this way before. You had some great lines in this as well.

It wasn't too long ago, when you held the key,
Unlocking ancient doors filled with long lost memories,
Of years passed, and fires left to die...

I love love love these lines. It's probably my favorite part of your poem. I especially love the "and fires left to die...."----That image really struck the feeling for me. So poetic.

The phase had ended, you found another,
More beautiful, more luminous than I...
I was left in total darkness,

This really expressed the rejected feeling. It hurts. The fact is that we can never seek our own satisfaction and our own self worth through others. We can only find happiness within ourselves, and that is very difficult, but if we achieve this, then we can always be happy, because in the end, the only person you can count on 100% of the time is yourself. That might seem sad, but on the other hand, it is a road to freedom.

Be True,
zenmind

The heart indeed has a long memory, so too does the skin, that burned from the caress ... the tounge, that still tastes the salt of the tears ... the empty hands, that used to hold on so tight ... they all remeber and it makes letting go so much harder and moving on so difficult.

Dang Stephy, you did it again ~
