Fits around you like a spiky glove,
Impaling you tearing at your skin,
Making a red river run from deep within.

Love can make you strong & make you weak,
Can make you fall from your highest peak,
It can pick you up & knock you down,
Laugh at you when you lay on the ground.

Love in many ways can appear,
In your gentle laughter or a falling tear,
Love can befriend you or be your enemy,
Love can trap you, yet also set you free.

Love sets off fires of passion,
When you’re in love anything can happen,
Love can haunt you in the middle of the night,
Keep hold of your heart oh so tight.

Sometimes to love is to hurt,
Then it can pick you right up from the dirt,
Anyone who’s in love or has loved before,
Will know that it gets you right in your core.

Good to see you back and posting again hun,

This was really good Kriss, it's emotionally grabing making the readers feel what you're feeling. Which i think makes a good poet.

Hugs,
Jane ;-)

I absolutely love this! I can't think of a more perfect way to word it. You've truely captured everything about love that is both beautiful and painful.
The last stanza is the greatest, and I've been through every up and down in this poem.

Awesome!!
