How ya doin?
God, it's been a while
Since we last saw each other,
Almost 6 years now.
You were just 13,
Out on the [-] field.
I've ke[t this inside
For too [-] long.
Man, I miss you.
A lot.
I think about you,
All the time.
I can't watch a football game
Or a movie about football
Without seeing your face.
I still see it,
That game.
I've been to that field
3 times since that night.
I see it everytime,
Exactly as it was.
3:27 left in the 4th quarter.
30-6.
We finally scored;
We were kicking off.
I see everything,
Exactly as it was.
Every time I see an injury,
I think of you.
God, how many people
Have seen me cry
Because of you?!
Why?!
You were too young
To go like that!!
Why'd you do it?!
You knew better!!
Maybe it's my fault.
Maybe if I told you
The dream I had
The night before,
Something would have been different.
I still see the fans on our side,
My parents waiting by the fence,
Wanting to help;
Those [-] on the other team cheering
Because you were hurt.
They saved a chair for you at graduation last year,
With a yellow rose in it.
I see the ambulance coming over,
You passed out on the bench.
I still hear the scissors
Cutting through your shoulder pads' straps.
I remember the phone call
4 days later,
After your dad pulled the plug
On the machine.
Would you have listened?
Everything happened
Almost exactly as I saw it
In my dream.
The only difference
Is you really died 4 days later, clinically.
Why, [-] you?!
WHY?!
Well, I better let you go.
See you soon, maybe.
The only consolation I have
Is that you got saved
Just a few months before.
I miss you.
Tell Jesus I said "Hi"
Next time you see Him.
This may not sound right
Coming from another guy,
But I love you, man.
You're always in my heart.
I'll always remember #71,
Jeremy Stinnett.

Your friend,
Bryan, previously #14. [comments] => 2 [counter] => 200 [topic] => 38 [informant] => solmyr1404 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Tributes )
