lights darkened amid stereophonic orchestration
mind too clear and hands appear steady
what will be the final sensation

dante's words in my brain echoes
nothing worse than recalling past joy in present hell
guess to ease the argued throes
perhaps to alter the choice as well

there's no regret to be had
uselessness fades as resolves takes hold
nothing here wipes out the bad
you know, this steel feels lifelessly cold

thoughts now are just relief and wonder
an end at last to the unrelenting sick
recalling past enhances the going under
will the last bit end as a click

really, nothing more to do or say
just trudging over the same old ground
no reason...just today
where's hope when no answer's found

will the memory be of who i've been
not really knowing the horror or my sting
how despicable it is in this skin
it truly is best to say nothing

.....except

..........maybe

Recalling past joy certainly does enhance the sadness of the present; but believe me, it can always be worse.

Good write: expresses the pain well.

Very Sad. This poem makes you want to reach for them adn tell them that life is never that bad. It is how you handle it. ***** happens to all of us, some worse than others but most of us make it through. Good write
