The sun burned away my dream,
that the world could live in peace.

Sick and tired of all this talk,
this talk of war and fatal weapons.
Peace is not a word, but a five letter story of false hope,
into which our lives are cast by iron fisted fools with no remorse.

Blood will stain God's once green earth,
bomber planes will fill these once blue skies.
Corpses will crowd these little streets,
and nothing will really change in the end.

Lightning will strike the heart of the land,
why must guns and bombs do the talking?
To bury so many innocent to get to so few,
say a prayer for the sake of this world.
Has God lost his faith in everything below?
Or have we no option but to destroy this land? I am surprised that there are no comments on this piece. I totally agree with the sentiment here. War is hopeless. Violence breeds more violence. Peace can not come from people killing each other. It doesn't even make sense. I don't understand how people could ever condone war, especially if they have ever been in war. It's easy for us, as Americans, who have never had a war on our soil, (at least in the last hundred years), to condone war. We don't take into consideration all of the innocent people that die in war. There are already over 100,000 innocent civilians killed in Iraq. Does that justify the 3,000 deaths that we suffered from 9/11? Oh no. I forgot to mention that we bombed the hell out of Afghanistan before we invaded Iraq. I wonder how many innocent people died there? Well at least we're killing them in the name of democracy and freedom. Come on, give me a break. I can't believe people actually buy into the propaganda that is fed to us every day by our government. Oh and let us not forget about the soldiers that die in war. War is only death, destruction. Nothing peaceful can come out of something so horrible and ugly. If you want peace, then act peaceful. That seems to make sense to me.

Be True,
zenmind

Way to go bro you hit the problem with a
knockout punch, war is pointless and only
creates more heartache and pain in the end.
"Peace is not a word, but a five letter story of false hope,
into which our lives are cast by iron fisted fools with no remorse."
Those two lines just blew me away. I don't
know what else to say in regards to your
poem, but I want to encourage you to stay
strong in your beliefs since we need more
people like yourself speaking out against
injustice and for the oppressed. Once again
an awesome poem.
