[hometext] => I grew up in NJ and our field trips were often to NY. I always loved the city, so I wrote a poem about it years ago...enjoy!
[bodytext] => The City The city - dirt stained highways filled with shouting sellers “Get your pretzels, hot salted pretzels here!” gum chewing urchins sitting on filthy, cracked sidewalks laughing and telling dirty jokes under a firehydrant in the heat of a summer day cool, stone parks with monuments from long ago days filled with broken glass and grafiti paths blocked by clusters of squabbling pigeons the air, rotted smelling of fumes from cars, planes, factories and yet fresh, to one who has just emerged from a ten story building filled with people But still the city full with all its trash, fumes, parks, and people is.....home.
