Come sit and stay awhile
Shall we have a cup of tea
How nice in this quiet time
That you should visit me

I’m sorry I don’t keep in touch
But how I miss you so
The memories of the times we’ve had
On days like this - they flow

You haven’t aged at all
And it seems with each new year
Instead of drifting further
You just seem to get more dear

Excuse the messy house please
And how long will you stay
My family is returning soon
But please, don’t go away

It’s nice to know on days like this
On you I can rely
But though I must get back to work
Dear dream - don’t go - I’ll cry.
