With victory at the end
Through the tunnel, to the light
To meet your one true friend
Overcoming the bad times
Ignoring the mean looks
By filling up your mind
With words from the holy book
Empty hands
Broken dreams
There's still a plan
Things aren't always how they seem
There's a reason we're here
Right now you do not know
But soon it will be clear
In death you'll hopefully be able to go...
to heaven, that's my goal
A place of happiness
For my soul
A long struggling fight
With victory at the end
Through the tunnel, to the light

I think this is nicely done abd I like the concept, but I would change the line "Avoiding the mean looks" to something like
"Ignoring the persecuting glares" or something as such. It will provide a little more creativity to this slightly mundane line.
