Really tear this poem apart. Constructively, of course. [bodytext] => Let go of the past and you will see
A world untouched where you can be
Yourself anew, discovery.
A life silenced so suddenly,
You’ll give a chance; you will set free.

The past is one,
The lessons another.
The two very different
But under common cover,
The two embrace; the past dominates.
And when the sun rises,
hell awaits.

Let go of the past,
But to lessons hang on.
Let go of the past,
Don’t be its pawn.
Live your life to the fullest each day
Or you’ll soon see how it slipped away.

You've made a really good point with this poem, because too many times we use the past as an excuse for doing something. There comes a time when the past has to be what it is the PAST

K I agree with the others -- great advice.
The rhyme was great, and so was the way it was all set up...
Awesome work, once again.

Bravo! This is well-styled and heavy with meaning. Your rhyming is very good, and gives the piece a natural, recognizable (it feels like a poetry we are well aquainted with) style.

The past is one,
The lessons another.
The two very different
But under common cover,

Great lines these are. Methinks the next line following should have an 'if' somewhere in it, to make the meaning of the second part of the stanza clear from the beginning. Besides that, I've no suggestions. Fine stuff.

Andrew

This was ok the concept was good but I think you could have put more thought in to this, looking back at your other pieces your poetry was filled with feeling this is only a taste of what you can do. I think if you look back and really think about the reason you wrote this or maybe even add a format to it it will turn out more than you'd expect. As for overall this was a nice piece, the ending was brilliant and I can see where you're coming from it will be excellent if you just put a bit more thought and adding structure can help force your thinking.

Keep it up,

*Can find absolutely nothing to tear apart*

Oh wait...!! It should've been longer, cause it was so damn good ; )

I thoroughly enjoyed this read Marc. Your thoughts on life are bang on, and I love your author's note...so VERY true! Awesome sweeping flow to this write, and clear thoughts conveyed to the reader. The last stanza sums it up wonderfully. Well done!

Wow. I admit to coming to this piece, solely for the title, alone.
I expected some sort of "letting go of the past" poem, but nothing
like the perfection I read here. You have a tremendous talent
for putting your philosophies down in such a beautiful and wisely
poetic way. A flawless execution of thought, my friend. Huge kudos!
