As slowly, the night passed on
And with it, the phone hung dead at my fingertips
While the dial tone stayed on.

I waited for it to ring
With spirit I willed it to sound
But it stayed placid and did not sing
I slowly slid to the ground

Take me now lord
Make it quick and painless
For I shall not survive the night
I fear I’ve lost the fight...

As sanity leaves me last
I see my life go by so fast
Too short for one man, I believe
But then again-I now must leave

Go in peace my friends
For naught shall you see me again

Down on my knees I will forever lie
Through darkness and end...

-goodbye

I can really sense how heartbroken you were when you wrote this. The emotion just floats out of this great piece. Excellent write.
