In the past two weeks, 3 of that agency's staff members have been killed by Israeli Defence Forces. Also, the IDF has done other things that the UN does not like (which are also mentioned in the poem).
This poem is sort of dedicated to Osama Hassan Tahrawi, Ahlam Riziq Kandil, and Iain Hook (the three people killed). [bodytext] => Elimination, incarceration,
Why all this procrastination?
Three in one month, 5 in a year,
What could Israel possibly fear?
Attendant blown up by a missile,
Stings UN more than a thistle.
Teacher hit within her home,
Is that where her ghost will roam?
Iain Hook shot in the back,
By Israeli soldier two weeks back.
These people worked for UNRWA,
But, alas, they couldn’t stay.
Israel used excessive force,
But doesn’t seem to show remorse.
Allegra Pacheco’s home was raided,
Her husband unjustly imprisoned.
Twenty-three members incarcerated,
Is Israeli peace over-rated? [comments] => 12 [counter] => 252 [topic] => 41 [informant] => Jessica_Saini [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => political )

Hey, good poem althought its all bullsh*t that everything is all Israel's fault. Have u heard of the suicide bombers? Israel kills the terrorists and ppl get all pissy and then America does the exact same thing except with al-Qaeda and no one cares. Israel is defending their territory. The 3 aid workers who died is unfortunate but so are the scores of Israeli civilians who have been blown to bits... Whose at wrong here the Israelis killing the terrorists and those who sponsor the suicide bombers? Or the suicide bombers blowing to bits the Israeli civilians? I think the evidence speaks for itself...

very good poem well said And true. the difference between israel's state sponsored terrorism and palestinian suicide bombers is that 1) palestine government does not endorse suicide bombers, and 2) palestine is OCCUPIED by israel, self-defense my ass.

Necronomy made a good point. Israel is occupying the West Bank and Gaza strip. The PLO does not sponsor the terror. But, I also agree that it is wrong for palestinians to blow themselves up and take innocent Israelis with them.
Thank you for sharing your point of view.

Thank you for your comment. I completely agree with it. What I think is really sickening, is MY country is supplying the weapons and even the training that Israel is using against the Palestinian people. I just might have to do refresh my memory on those statistics, and write another poem;-)

OK, Necronomy have u read the news buddy? Yasser Arafat and bin Laden are both terrorists. Israel is not a terrorist they are a lawful nation who is protecting their borders just like America is doing in Afghanistan and what they probably will do in Iraq. The land the Palestinians hold was given to them by Israel... land that is rightfully the Israelis. They exchanged land for peace, but the palestinians only have blood in their eyes. It is not Palestines land nor was it ever. It was ruled by the Brits, French, Turks, the Romans In Biblical times it was ruled by barborous tribes like the Canaanites and the Amorites who were defeated by the Israelites.
Also, if the Palestine 'government' doesnt support the suicide bombers then why have their been bombers from Arafats securirt group Fatah? I could say more, but I know I am right. I pray you'll all wake up eventually.

Pretty ballsy poem. Well stated and absolutely accurate. Your poem says nothing about "suicide bombers" and any reference or rebut in that vein is irrelevent.

Good for you!

Wasn't there a peace treaty or accord or something in 1993 that gave the Palestinians the West Bank and Gaza strip? And if Palestine doesn't exist, than why is there a Palestinian leader that was chosen by Israel?

This is one of the most interesting poems I have ever read, mainly because of the reason that it brings a very critical social and political issue in a very beautiful and artistic way. And it has also backed up with facts which have been recorded in the history books. We should not just think about whether palestinians are right , or are the Israelis justified. We should understand that such a horrifying situation is existent in our world, where innocent people are being killed for whatsoever reasons. Jessica I congratulate you for bringing forth this tragic issue in a very brave manner, and I hope with all my heart and soul that atleast one israeli and one palestinian reads this poem and is encouraged for a revolution of peace and harmony. We should remember that an ocean, however huge it is, is built up of several small drops of water. I pray that your poem gives birth to many such drops of water, who would eventually bring in an era of everlasting peace. Amen

you better believe it that Sharon is a terrorist. they are protecting their borders? from what? the hundreds of thousands of palestinian refugees that have been driven out of their homes since the ethnic cleansing began in 1948, and are kept at bay by an Israeli aparthied, no other country in the world could get away with this!

the land has always belonged to the palestinians throughout those occupations, they have a long hard history of foreign imperialism in their territory, that doesn't make it less wrong for thm israelis to do the same.

how can you argue that a land originally ripped from it's rightful owners over 4000 years ago by a savage tribe of israelites equates to the same land belonging to the descendants of those imperialist invaders, eventhough it has long since been inhabited by other people?

the palestinians are among the most oppressed people in the world today, desperate people make desperate decisions, including suicide bombings. that doesn't make it right but their actions are no worse than many of the Israeli's.

don't bother praying, if you want to do something good in the world you can start by educating yourself.
