Array ( [sid] => 81205 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Blood Oath [time] => 2005-01-24 00:40:03 [hometext] => An actual blood oath. [bodytext] => Having spent years
pondering the honor,
justice, and feasibility
of the cause herein sworn to,
I now declare myself
ready and willing
to take on such a cause,
and to swear and affirm
upon that which gives me life,
my blood,
laid upon this page
as a permanent reminder
of the seriousness
and sanctity
of this oath.

By this blood,
I solemnly swear
to uphold and defend
that which is the most honorable
of all causes,
the care for and protection of
those who have been,
acting under stainless honor
with regard to the circumstances at hand,
betrayed, victimized, or harmed
in any way
by any person
in whom said victim
fairly and with good reason
invested their trust
and/or personal security.

Furthermore,
I understand that this obligation,
being something
never to be taken lightly,
shall require my alertness
and willingness
to offer aid,
with alacrity,
at all hours of the day
and at all times of the year,
and I declare there to be,
in my possession,
a full knowledge of this fact
and a full acceptance of this tenet.

I also swear
that I will never bring harm
to any person
in such a way
that my actions create
such a victim
as I am sworn to protect,
or make worse
for any such person
anything pertaining to their status
with regard to reclaiming
that which was taken away
from them.

In return for fulfilling
this obligation
whenever I am called upon,
my life will be directed
in such a way
that my own honor
will be kept,
with greater ease,
free from stain or fault.

Finally,
having sworn
upon my own blood,
I vow that,
should I ever fail,
to any extent or degree,
to completely fulfill this obligation
with regard to any person,
situation, or circumstance,
I shall be forced
to redeem my personal honor
and reaffirm my loyalty
to this oath
by once again offering
to this page
that blood. [comments] => 0 [counter] => 155 [topic] => 21 [informant] => butterat_zool [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 3 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Lifepoems )

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
