I was dreaming all last night
Your face so crystal clear
As I reached for your hand
The way you held it dear.

The way you rested your head
So soft upon my shoulder
Could only think to myself
I wish that I could Hold Her.

We talked and laughed all night
And drove around that town
Going around in circles
As you swore up and down.

You knew where we were going
You said, it’s over there
Each time it wasn’t what you thought
I began to wonder, where?

When finally we saw it
I felt a whole year older
I gave her a hard time
Still wanted just to Hold Her.

The film was just incredible
We left, as it got colder
I looked her in the eye
And just wanted to Hold Her.

We drove the long way home
She sang so perfectly
To all the songs she loved
Her voice filled me so sweetly.

She asked me to just try
To sing a song with her
I know I was too shy
Afraid, and too unsure.

She laughed and let it go
Thank God, she saw the fear
Her voice continued on
So beautiful to hear.

By then we reached her house
And I was feeling bolder
We let ourselves inside
I just needed to Hold Her.

She opened up the closet
And then hung up her coat
And walked away a moment
Words choking in my throat.

Not quite sure what to say
She walked right up to me
And wrapped her arms around
And held me very tightly.

It was a perfect feeling
Her resting on my shoulder
I cherished every second
Now that I could Hold Her.

It seemed to last a long time
I did not want to let go
She made me feel so happy
Now I wanted to know.

If maybe I should kiss her
Not sure if it was right
The night had been so special
This thought made me uptight.

We separated ourselves
And then I couldn’t wait
And leaned over and kissed her
I did not hesitate.

It felt so nice and tender
I liked it, I confess
Her lips were soft and so smooth
My heart was saying yes.

My head said that we’re just friends
But I just could not hide
The way this kiss was feeling
Made me shake inside.

It was a silent moment
And when the kiss was through
I tried to find composure
The words that came were few.

I left and drove away
The night now even colder
So happy for this night
That I could finally Hold Her.

I smiled the whole way home
That kiss I won’t regret
It made me feel alive
A night I won’t forget.

Reflecting on this evening
Her face, was on my shoulder
I’m glad the time had come
I really got to Hold Her.

This is the kind of poem every girl wishes a guy would write for her. Very nice.
