[title] => The New Year

[bodytext] => Well the new year is here, or it will be, in roughly 23 hours, according to the clock in the corner of my lap top. Which may or may not be correct depending on whether or not you believe clocks should be accurate. (We like to be a few minutes off in this house.) (It is our own personal expression of the fact that we have never been on time.) And it occurs to me this will be the last late night (or early morning to be correct) I will spend at this computer typing this year. And it occurs to me that it doesn’t even matter, not a bit. Because what is the point really, in celebrating a year of nothing and everything? Especially when the everything did not involve you. Why do we all make our resolutions for all the things we wont be doing next year, all the things we know we wont be doing? Is that why we make resolutions? To excuse us from our responsibilities in life? Because goodness knows, no one ever actually succeeds with their new years resolutions. What is the point anyway, When all the years start flowing into each other like a river of life. Pointing out every January 1rst 12:00 am, is like pointing out that especially shiny pebble in the bottom of the river, I mean its nice and all but take me to the waterfall please. Take me to the place where it flows into the ocean. For goodness sakes, at least show me the guide book so I can find the place where the river will distinguish itself in a beautiful way from all the other rivers flowing in this direction. Because right now I’m sick of shiny pebbles. I am about ready to throw a stick of dynamite at all those shiny pebbles. When you see gold let me know. But until then don't remind me that we have been travelling mile after mile after mile on this river and I still haven’t found what I was looking for.
