In the instant absence of my ego

And it is so like her to catch me off guard

But nevertheless, her soft malted fingertips passing from the front of my cheeks to the back of my ear

And then my daily prize resting against her daily prize

Completely tangled, competing unnecessarily

There’s nothing that I could say to maintain her hypnotization

And then confidently after kissing me, had the audacity to not even say goodnight

But I knew that eventually her confidence would have aroused me to an experience where none shall forget

Though the evening passed through gay laughing and unnecessary entertainment

She celebrated within my vulnerability

Ever so often in between my silent insecurities

I grasped for her comfort

Whilst my heart beat fast to the flashing lights of idleness

There is no control…

And then she guided me to a place that I’ve seen before

But never in it’s image or likeness

Daring to believe it is because of her presence

Though my insecurity suffered the improbability of our motives

We both giggled at the inappropriation

But she does remember who I am

And I still beg to know what we are…

This is the depth of a relationship. There is more that i could say but that would take away from the spirit of this poem.

I wish there was something more than the question of love to define your relationship. That is why it did not last. He never once in this poem said that he loved you.

Archie, you're right.. it's only now... 6 yrs after that I understand this poem completely. This spoke about an experience that was great for us both... and that's all it was.. an experience that we both won't ever forget.
