Tranquillity besets my being,
A pool of stillness, bequeathed by
Silence shudders through my mind.

It is quiet, too quiet.
A place of unearthliness
Replaces what once was:
A night of sleepless curiosity.

Vision comes and goes:
Figures and shapes loom
Before my withered sight.
Fables: fate retwisted, to suit
My haggard heart.

The noiseless black time,
Ripples through, rips through
To the core of, ‘Normalness’.
Placing me beyond drug
Induced human intervention.

All are drowning their sorrows
In mindless slumber.
Comprehension claws its way
Into my soul.
Places its numbing fingers
Upon my spine.

Whispers.

Light from my mind extinguishes,
When morning comes around.
Eyes roll back.
Whites show, like a rabid dog,
People come and go; I know them not:
For I sleep the slumber of the dead.
