I will look to the sky,
To the red dragon above,
'Don't let a chance pass you by.'

The understanding in his eyes,
Brings the flicker of a smile,
Spreading his wings, he soars away,
Leaving me to think for a while.

Not my knight in shining armor,
Not the prince for me to wed,
Instead, a king, king of the skies,
Saying no more, than needs to be said.

After time he returns, as he always does,
To assure me everything will be all right,
Doing everything he can to brighten my day,
Without actually fighting my fight.

My gaze remains unbroken, enchanted,
Seeing the dragon that stands before me,
Sensing my thoughts,as he shows me the way
To a mysterious world of magic and fantasy.

Protecting me with the love in his heart,
As he flys beneath the sun in a way,
That his brilliant scales can shimmer,
To reflect the smile he gave me today.

In the darkest dark he is my light,
Able to show me new hope that dawns,
Never failing to bring me a laugh,
When I look to the sky, to my dragon. [comments] => 2 [counter] => 203 [topic] => 40 [informant] => Mesano [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 22 [ratings] => 5 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => fantasy )
