Her flights at ten, and its half past eight

The rush of the morning, Though fitting the mood
Is not what she hoped for, Its not what she knew

Her mother sits back, Just waiting in line
To be the last one, To tell her daughter goodbye

For years she's played house, she’s played doctor, and more
But how can a mother, See her daughter play War

Not in the backyard, or the park down the street
But in real combat missions, In Baghdad and Tikrit

She knows her daughters strong, She’s the toughest one there
But to this "old fashioned" mother, It just doesn't seem fair

She turns away crying, Not wanting to see
But can't hold it back, as she watches her leave

"She'll be back before long", her husband confides
"We haven't seen the last of, our daughter's goodbyes"

She worried to death, She isn't alone
So she silently prays, For those who won't make it home.
