When the smoke blankets the sky
Grey shifting black to filth
Smothering the heavens with oppression
And the only sounds available
Are fear-injected screeches
The slow moan of a violated sunrise
And the cadence of violent quakes
Lingering in the distance
And the stench of disgust hangs heavy
The stink of rejection
The scent of aversion
Nauseating and revolting
Choking the very essence
Out of the air of which it consumes
The flowers will wilt at your feet
Sob to brown
Sigh and dissipate
All the life
All the beauty around you will die
The colors you onced loved will perish
Your niche will become a wasteland

You will be stranded
Watching as your skin turns taut
Till it cracks and bleeds
Watching as your blood fades to black
Its true shade
As your irises do the same
Trying to breathe but you will suffocate
On the dust of your possessions
Possessions that were once gifts
Symbols of a forgotten love
Love that you forgot amidst yourself
And as you scream your tongue will explode
All those hollow words
And broken promises will be free
And flutter to the sun to be engulfed
Along with all the other sins you conceived
You will try to cry
But all your tears wil have left from misuse
And in this disintegrated state
You will search in a haze for the cause

Then I will emerge
A hideous form you can't even remember
Twisted and obscene
An ogre towering over his effects
Over you
The true you
A decrepit carcass I could never see before
And I will watch
As the spirits disappear from your eyes
As your soul sinks through the ground
Falling to its true home
Till all that is left is a body that I once held
A dry husk
Fragile and mindless
Unaware of the world
As atrophy sets in
