for I am lost and I can't find
a way to calm this aching soul
and free a piece of mind.

I take them in, and wrap them in
all the warmth that's mine to give
and I give away and don't get back
all the things I need to live.

I am left inside an empty shell
a shell which I've outgrown
I'm right inside to now repent
all things I should have known.

I can't go back and can't move on
for sadness overwhelms
I gave my heart, and gave my time
for an end which I offend.

Oh... how I can relate--- been there, done that - see Roxbury Falls (ironically, you must have driven right by there, eh?). Don't know why, but I also start, or end, or pass through our hometown on my journeys... ok - I do know why... I'm just rambling I guess...

"I can't go back and can't move on"... just... rips me wide open. I spent YEARS in that place. Here, I'm tempted to insert a ton of big sister-ish commentary - but (lucky you!) I'll refrain from doing so for two reasons 1) Jecks already said what I'd have to say and 2) you, of course, will find your own way... sometimes, it just takes time. Back or forward... I'm here if you need me. *hug*

One technical note... you go find-mind, give-live, outgrown-known and then overwhelm... um... offend? Offend threw me....

And... "Spoonman"??????? You'll have to enlighten me...

Feeling both in and out of touch *wink*,
SNM

*contemplating comments
just thinking here about SNM's offend remark and I guess I'll just say so what in the nicest way possible - cause in all reality I know it's not quite right but I'll tell you it fits none-the-less. It fits so well that I knew it wasn't coming back out even if it did throw the whole thing.
Thanks tho for all the poets who comment, who share and who give of themselves, it's kinda why we are all here right?
