A simple little chore.

To keep it alive, you'd think,
and nothing more.

However, to me, it is a symbol.
Of one who is so kind.

That for one shimmering moment,
I was actually on her mind.

That she presented the plant,
to me as a gift,

On a black day, and she alone,
Knew I needed a lift.

This simple act of kindness,
Of plant, pot and root.

Makes it so very hard,
To keep my feelings moot.

But, when I look at this plant,
and what to me it represents.

In my life, perhaps, it is,
The most perfect of presents.

Given by one who I see as pure,
It is hard to explain.

My vow to respect her position,
and never cause her pain.

Thank You.

This poem would make a great "Thank you" card for your friend. (If you haven't shared it with her already) Great write by the way, it is nice to see how even a small gesture can make someone's day.

A simple little plant..one with life, and beauty. It shall always live as a symbol of a deep friendship..and if someday it should happen to 'croak' hehe...just remember..the friendship will remain.
