as the day dawns i look around
and thank the lord i am still above ground
i am thankful for the blessing of my life
my family, friends, especially my wife
a few aches and pains and a little gas
i take a few pills and it soon does pass
glasses i need to look around
and a hearing aid to detect the sound
vigourous exercise make me puff
but normally i am ok and thats good enough
i am thankful for the things i have seen and done
and life in general has been fun
it's 80 years since my birth
but only god knows how long i will be on this planet earth
all living things are born, bloom, fade and die
so when i depart do not cry
life has been good too so i think
so open the rum bottle and give me a drink

I like your poem and I love your attitude. It reminded me of one I wrote a few months ago for my first mother-in-laws 90th. I think I'll post it. I wish you many more years, but more importantly, however many or few, good ones.
