I want somebody to talk too
It used to be you I’d turn too

Now I want to talk about you

I used to call you up crying
Now what we had is gone and no-one else understands

They all think we were just friends
& your heart can’t get broken by friends

Oh no, they say
Your heart can’t get broken by friends
Oh no, they say
Your heart can’t get broken by friends

I’m learning what it is to be alone
I’m learning what is to be down for the final count

I turn on the TV
I see so much pain

I feel so much doubt
I see the Jesus whores

They always have eyes like dollar signs

I have a heart full of thorns and roses
& I hate all the things I hide away

When I was 17
I gave up on ever being with the only one I ever loved

She didn’t ever really know for years
When we finally kissed, it was like the Heavens opened

And I touched God and he was crying for the Summer that is already lost

I wish I could call you up and tell you all about it
I wish we could eat icecream and dish the dirt

I'm very complicated by this stage of my star turn on the late night show

& I try to make out like I don’t care
What my ex-girlfriend says on her Live Journal

I want somebody to talk too
It used to be you I’d turn too

Now I want to talk about you

Last night as I came home on the train
I sat beside an attractive woman with beautiful perfume

And for just a while
I could pretend that scent was the answer to everything.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
