Orange until the sun rose above the horizon
Full yellow ball began to brighten
Dawning of another pleasant sunny day
In the distance a jet plane appeared
Going unnoticed, as there was no fear
No one dreamed on such a beautiful day
Disaster of untold magnitude was on its way
Four jet airplanes on a suicide mission
Whose only goal was to kill into submission
Fiery balls of smoke and flame filled the air
Caused unbelievable destruction and death for which no one was prepared
Then a second crash just as loud
A second tower shook and fell, which devastated the crowd
Smoke billowed as others looked on in shock and bewilderment
Trying to grasp the magnitude of this horrendous incident
Disaster and screams ensued with panic, which filled the air
The profoundness of the disaster we became aware
Loss of innocent life too big to comprehend
It shook a whole nation, not to break, but bend
As that infallible human spirit responded to its beckoned call
To pitch in and work to rescue all
Even before the dust settled the rescue began
Firemen, policeman and citizen alike in an attempt to save their fellow man
Slowly they would emerge like ghosts
Filing out of the bowels of haze and smoke, which were the graves for most
A nation temporarily brought to its knees
Only to rebound with a strengthened spirit to be free
That no terrorist would defeat this great nation
Which now more then ever would value its freedom and creation
I think our willingness to fight, and resolve to last
Will demonstrate to our fallen soldiers from the present and the past
That they did not die in vain for our quality of life to sustain
There is no limit on our price for freedom, our democracy we will maintain
Flag raised, God Bless America

Well, I think this is brilliant. And very true.
It was a terrible trajedy, but maybe, just maybe, some good can come out of it somewhere...I hope.
Great write,
A brilliant tribute.

Gotta say this is the best one I've read from that day. A masterpeice that stands on its own any where any time.
U had my heart weeping,
my eyes tearing, then sminling thru all that and Damn proud to be an American in the good ole USA.
Rarely does any one have my eyes tearing.
Pat yourself on the back for that my friend as this is an awesomely written poem.
hugg, smiles, luv,

It's a masterpiece in itself. Your use of words was just perfect...and the imagery was awesome.
Beautiful work. |
