If they had only known the measure, the measure of what it takes to keep me here~ [bodytext] => ice screaming through my veins
cat claws scratching out the inside of my chest
if you were holding my hand
you'd feel my heart exploding
the nurse just injected the morphine
i'm trying not to rip out my hair

i think of you, sanity grounds me
i see your eyes, the mirror image of my own
the way you lay down beside me
propped yourself up on your elbows
and promised that you loved me
no, swore, that i was everything

they're telling me to hold still
not to tear the Iv out of my arm
the blankets sweating unto me
still shivering with the heat that i stole
your face in the bag of liquid
the subtle way you preserve what's left
rehydrate what is starving for love

you in the dark kneeling below me, your mouth
between my legs
and i'm begging you not to
not to hurt me again
not to make promises
empty promises

morphine love
you're the only reason i survived
how is that
you're one of many reasons
why i was there
secured to the hospital bed
a shivering 89 pounds
begging for you to deliver me
