Leaving a wake of death and destruction along the way

Destruction and carnage like we have never seen
Not in reality..nor in our worst dreams

It is unimaginable the things that we see
In beautiful places where many of us have longed to be

We watched as paradise was truly lost
How could fate have demanded such a cost?

Over 100,000 souls who exist no more
And the moans of millions too loud to ignore

Waves so high it is beyond the imagination
It washed away dreams and memories with much devastation

My own soul now has a permanent rip
And my mind and eyes try hard to grip

The sight of bodies everywhere
I want to turn away and yet...I stare

And the children..too many children
So many children that I cannot begin

To know why they had to part
Before their tender young lives had began to start

How could a distaster like this come to be
In a world filled with preventive technology

Above all else it really does show
When it is your time...you have to go

I know one thing that is defintely true
Just as I am sure that you know it too

And that is not to take life for granted, and don't live too fast
We must live each and every day like it is our last

If you love someone it is not enough that they should know it
Tell them every day, hold them and show it
In every way

We never know when it is the end
And to die without saying our 'I love you's'..now that is a sin
