Have I made an error in what I saw in you?
Were my ideas of what we could share only that?
Delusions of a heart that sought another hearts love to share-
Or was it only my misapprehension of the things you said to me…

Did I only create an illusion of the love I sought?
A mirage that only I was able to see with a heart true-
Or was I just deceptive to myself in thinking love to be true?
And in creating my fantasy when you requested my heart to be yours…

I can blame you not for my own mistaken judgment-
For the fault can only be placed upon my own shoulders-
As I am the one who made the oversight as to what you felt-
And it was the foolishness of my own heart that did not pay attention…

I have listened to you and the things that you have said-
I will no longer misidentify what I feel with what I hear-
There will be no misunderstandings about things to come-
For I will have no misconceptions as to what the future holds…

You've expressed what everyone comes up against eventually rather nicely here. It is all too easy to misunderstand sometimes. Some of us are serious and some of us are not and it is too often too difficult to tell the difference. And asking raises fears of rejection.
Very sentimental and nicely expressed.
Cheers!
J.

Apprehensions in love are not abnormal. That is when you should take the time to delve into it with your loved one. Push everything and everyone else out of the picture until the real story is told. True love is not to be thrown away over misconceptions. Anger clouds judgement and acquaintances and events often miscontrue the real truth. If you truly love someone, you will take the time to find out. Love is too rare to loose over a mistunderstanding. Dove

Excellent expression of thoughts that we all have been hit with. Take caution.
