Divided States of America

Contributed by bobotheclown on Friday, 31st December 2004 @ 03:15:21 PM in AEST
Topic: political

We are the Divided States of America
We are the free and united
Yet enslave other countries for a dollar
We pride ourselves on acceptance
Yet hate those with different religious beliefs
And despise those with different political beliefs
We are the Divided States of America
We have a war criminal as a "leader"
And he is always right
Even when abuses and killings happen
And even when he sends our sons and daughters
Off to die ingloriously and forgotten
In an illegal and pointless war
We are the Divided States of America
Love, acceptance, peace, and unity
Traded for hate, rejection, war, and division
You've tested the waters of jingoism and ignorance
And is that what you really want?
We are the Divided States of America

I want the war to end also and MY LOVED ONES TO COME HOME some make us all seem like we are a bunch of ass kicking outlaw son of a ***** well thats not so now Im starting to get mad so Im gonna be quiet now. Have a nice New Year

hey joel...well i don't think this is one of your best, but you did a good job on it. i'm not a huge political type person, but i appreciate people voicing their opinions because it gets me thinking and helps me decide what i believe.

i like how you repeat the line "we are the divided states of america" and end with it, it leaves an impression on the reader

Yet hate those with different religious beliefs
And despise those with different political beliefs"

Jingoism? Oh please! As a British person I'd just like to say I feel safer with America than a tinpot reigieme! Count yourself lucky and support the great nation that you are a part of! This poem had Attention seeking political statement written all over it and people must think before joining this bandwagon.

Excellent and expressive poem.
