How Could You?

“How Could You?” - by J. Samuelson Copyright©2001 01/25

When you wrote into my life
I should have seen it was a lie
Why was I such a fool?

Then you wrote right out of it
I guess you finally told the truth
Now may you be the fool?

All I did was give you my everything
And you just played me like some game
I can’t understand.

You let me love, then carried on
Took it all, and never gave back
How Could You?

I thought you had some feelings too
But you took mine and shattered them
And I forgave you.

Does this not even bring you guilt
To know you’ve buried someone’s life?
I don’t see it.

I’m sorry, means just an easy out
Doesn’t even compare to love I gave
How Could You?

Just wrote me off, like the wind
Without even a decent excuse
Were you that scared?

I loved, and put my trust in you
Waited all this time for you
Now you’re gone.

Can you say you felt only nothing
When you too said loving things?
How Could You?

Why did you bother, so much time
When only he, was on your mind?
You’re a liar.

I know you will just move along
Start again, and knock ‘em out
How Could You?

Doesn’t it make you feel a thing
Destroying someone else’s dream?
It’s so wrong.

Even after the hurt you’ve caused
I still love you, and forgive you
I’m still the fool.

I wish you never would have wrote
You’ll never know the damage done
How Could You?

I honestly don’t know if I will go on
You have no clue what you have done
How Could You?

I know that you can live with this
I hope someday you feel regret
I doubt it.

Remember, it could happen to you
Then what are you going to do?
Can you take it?

This is now the last goodbye
You wanted me, out of your life
How Could You?

You were offered everything I had
You never could have expected that
How Could You?

I don’t see why you’ve given up
What a mistake you may have made
It’s your loss too.

I now will go and leave you be
You missed the fate train, you lose again
How Could You?
