[bodytext] => FBI memos confirm Guantanamo prisoner abuse A series of just released FBI memos confirm what's been alleged for months now – that prisoners being held at the US military prison at Guantanamo Bay have been subject to abuse and even torture. The memos gathered over a period of two years detail techniques, which included prisoners being chained to the floor and left without food and water. Given the opportunity to respond today the White House made no effort to deny the abuse. Memos between FBI officials detailing abuses, some dated after the Abu Ghraib jail scandal, were released as part of a legal case against the government. --O//-- Strangulation, beatings and the placing of lit cigarettes into detainees' ears, an executive order signed by President George W Bush authorising techniques such as 'sleep management', stress positions, use of military dogs and sensory deprivation, detainees shackled to the floor in foetal positions for more than 24 hours at a time, left without food and water and allowed to defecate on themselves, military interrogators impersonated FBI agents, apparently to avoid possible blame in subsequent inquiries, the rape of a juvenile male detainee... --O//-- America is supposed to be better? Oh yes we know about “bad apples” But that’s just so much snow Rumsfeld has his deniability Bush and Cheney give a little wink And the creepy torturers go on Without the slightest blink America, the torturing state Is that what you want to be Turning a blind eye to torture In the land of the “free” This is the kind of behaviour I thought you were against Are you really Nazis? What is your defence? That no one knew? It was a few bad apples nothing more? Strange, because there are documents That show you’re rotten TO THE CORE Deniability is important But the grunts don’t want all the blame They got you to sign Read now with shame Emails and executive docs Wolfowitz and Bush The trail of slime leads up above Is it for the door you rush? You thought you had it covered No torture link, no blame Well think again Mr Bush You’re firmly in the frame America is supposed to be better? You’re supposed to be a Christian nation?
