Drais' Tale VIII. A Hunter in the Ominous Palace

Contributed by Lee on Thursday, 16th December 2004 @ 09:28:25 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

There is a ghost-like man waiting in the palace
I have come to seal his fate with a mini-cross of bone
I have a psyhic connection to this monstrosity of nature
He waits for me in front of a large mirror
That casts no reflection of himself

I am coming towards the palace at a steady pace now
I see the deliphidated manors that surround it
The throngs of undead will soon be after me
Or has he called them off to see if he alone can face me?

I traveled extensively to a cavernous mountain
Where a lone hermit tried to make me believe
That I was this creature
The hermit turned out to be one of his underlings
He eventually went for my neck so I staked him in the heart
It seems he cursed me by letting the creature into my mind

Tonight it comes to an end for one of us
I'm entering the horrid palace gates
Somehow I knew I would not escape this fate
And still in front of the mirror the creature waits
That terrible fellow who calls himself Drais

I'm at the gothic entrance to the palace, so uninviting
Then through the maze of hallways where he may be biting
I find him standing (just as I pictured it in my mind)
In front of the mirror
His back is turned to me and I go for my mini-cross of bone
Then he said something dreadful that was all his own

"Hunters hearts are made of stone."

He fashioned his fangs and in swiftly motoned madness
Tried to overpower me and corrode my veins
With his eternal sleep solution
We wrestled on the trestle of the balcony
And found ourselves at a stalemate
Then he gave a battle-cry that shook the foundations of the night

"Gallo, you will be mine!"

I didn't respond to this arrogance
I kicked him off of my body near the ledge of the balcony
He lunged forward and I took him with both of my arms
And threw him off of the balcony
He landed with a thud and laid on the ground, yet undead
I took my mini-cross of bone and tied a length of velvet curtain to it
Then I laced a little bit of it to my arm
And then threw the mini-cross of bone
I heard a loud shriek from the creature
As he was staked in the heart

Suddenly a strange feeling came over me
As he was dying, I fell to the ground
He awakened all the night creatures around us
I crawled over to the edge of the balcony
And saw his body being carried off into the night
Then the night creatures came for me
I quickly pulled on the velvet
And the mini-cross of bone was back in my hand
It became a trajectory against the evils in the night
I hurriedly threw the min-cross of bone to the ground
I repelled down the palace wall using the velvet
And made a hasty exit from that ominous palace
One might think that Drais either was destroyed
Or he lived to bite another day...no, perhaps...night
