To see how apt a man he be:
The biggest fish that one could net
Would sure his reputation set.

He sat in a dinghy from dawn till dusk
While the nails of his boat quick did rust;
But soon a fish he caught indeed,
A stalwhopper, a mighty breed!

The stalwhopper hung three-foot long,
Big enough for many a song.
“Too small,” he shook his head, and sighed,
And tossed it back to the rising tide.

He sat in a dinghy from dawn till dusk
While the nails of his boat quick did rust;
But soon a fish he caught indeed,
A jaggerjaw, a king-sized breed!

This fish could scarce fit in his boat—
It thrashed and thumped to clear its throat;
But though the boat rocked awful, he
Just rolled it back into the sea.

He sat in a dinghy from dawn till dusk
While the nails of his boat quick did rust;
But soon a fish he caught indeed,
A giant whale, in need of feed!

He screamed for help but no one came;
The fishes laughed to watch this game;
Its jaws stretched wide and swallowed him whole—
“Oh fiddlesticks,” wailed the unfortunate soul.

He sat in a dinghy from dawn till dusk
While the nails of his boat quick did rust;
Now never again shall he fish indeed,
For a fisherman’s skill must match his greed! [comments] => 3 [counter] => 184 [topic] => 31 [informant] => wray [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => StoryPoetry )

Fun... A nice, light read... The rhyme seemed a little forced in a couple of places, but overall, a pleasant song that i'd love to hear a tune for... It's nice to have you back, mate! You've been missed... Butterat Zool.

I Loved it! a clever little moral tale wrapped up nicely in the lyrics. Sometimes your eyes can be too big for your belly and your ego too inflated for your abilities. And why are us men constantly trying to prove our manhood? must be some deep seated insecurities swimming in that deep blue sea.....
