Looking Back

Contributed by witch_derna on Monday, 13th December 2004 @ 05:54:41 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Looking back on my life,
true it's been full of strife.
Would I change anything I've done?
Not all, but yes some.

Staying with an abusive husband for one
that caused the death of an un-born son.
That was almost to much to take,
my love for him was replaced with hate.

Not having open eyes to see
a son hooked on liquor that was drowning.
If I would have heard his cry,
he wouldn't be doing prison time.

Not sooner knowing husband number two
was molesting our daughter when she was two.
If only I could have foreseen,
she wouldn't now be a troubled teen.

I believe things happen for a reason
but these I fail to see.
So much pain, so much hurt,
is it any wonder one feels desert.

Oh, I'm so sorry to read about that. Yeah, sometimes words like "Things happen for a reason" and "time heals everything" or "Love heals everything" sound really hollow. They should be banned.
