Wake up from the nightmare,
That I call my life,
Run away, leave behind,
All the pain, all the strife.

...Why can't I just...
Look deep into his eyes,
And whisper "I love you"
Hold him in my arms,
And show him that it's true.

...Why can't I just...
Be there to hold him close,
And place a kiss upon his lips,
Brush my hands across his face,
A gentle touch of fingertips.

...Why can't I just...
Prove the whole world wrong,
And show them that it's right,
If only they could see my heart,
See the love thats burning bright.

...Why can't I just...
End all of our pain,
And mend our broken hearts,
Give us both new lives,
Remove the poison darts.

...Why can't I just...
Open wide my tearstained eyes,
Seeing things the way they are,
But knowing deep inside my heart,
I'll forever have this scar.

"Why?" is always the question that we ask each time that love leaves our lives yet sadly, stays inside our hearts as if haunting us and preventing us from being happy. This is a very nice poem. I hope you get over the sadness that you feel, because if you don't, you might end up like me.

I've walked this road many times, and all I can say is time really does heal. This was well written and packed with emotion, the flow and pace are good, and you communicate so well with the imagery. I would say this is the best one of yours I have read so far. Keep writing, I have added you to my buddy list!!
