They say the picture frame is cracked
But they take no notice of the photograph
It's a pretty, wooden design
A shame it broke so soon
Let them laugh, you smile at me
I love how your eyes light up when you see me
And your arms promise to protect me
And you hold me as our picture frame begins to crack
It's a pretty, wooden design
They dare not touch in fear of splinters
You encourage and inspire me
I love it when you hum songs in my ear
We begin to sway, you hold me close to you
And we dance blissfully as our picture frame begins to crack
It's a pretty wooden design
They look at our picture frame
And express disappointment at the sight of the crack
It's too fragile for anyone to pick up
You take my hand and teach me to live
You make me laugh and you make me cry
I stop to stare at our photograph as the picture frame begins to crack
It's a pretty, wooden design
You taught me to see the photograph
But I can't help but look at the crack
And think of how much I love you
