A part of me is missing
Yet I keep on living
I'm never to be whole
Without this piece to my soul

As I'm growing older
I realize I'm getting colder
And my heart is frozen
Until it's left broken

I've never had the piece
That many think they need
A father is a part of them
While I'll never see mine again

I was left unwanted
And discarded
You have been blessed
And yet you forget this
You take what I've always wanted
And take him for granted [comments] => 18 [counter] => 296 [topic] => 48 [informant] => Essentially9 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 20 [ratings] => 4 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )

Left Broken

A part of me is missing
Yet I keep on living

I understand what you're saying..but my son has three kids and he's a..real ass hole..they'd be better off if they didn't know him..they cry themselves to sleep knowing they have such a wretch for a dad..

I know that feeling....before my momma's death, my Chichi never even wrote to me. He walked away from momma the day she wen't into labor...I knew nothing of him until those shimata atama at the American justic system sent me to him. But he isn't so bad....

I have felt this. The numb feeling that you will never truly feel again.
Introspective and broad write.

I like what you put into this poem... And with age it seems the best parts of us harden on the outside to survive. Nice poem. Tiffany J. (Red_October)

These lines really affected me. I have my father, but we have never had the relationship I hoped for, and I'm only just now accepting that without tears. I understand this though. We all have precious things we take for granted.

this was moving, am sorry for your pain and can relate. at the end of the day though, everyone takes for granted what they have, there may be someone reading who can't walk or can't talk and we all take it for granted that we can just get up or speak.

we are all blessed in our own ways x
